Norwich Victorian Terrace Extension

Location:

Norwich, Norfolk

Type:

Private House

Project Stage - Stage 1 - Concept

This Victorian terrace in Norwich is getting a much-needed update. The plan is to add a ground-floor extension with an open kitchen, dining, and living area, making the home more modern and practical.

The clients loved their garden but felt disconnected from it. They had bi-fold doors, but the glazed roof above made the dining area uncomfortably hot in summer. It was time for a better solution—one that would allow them to enjoy the garden in all seasons.

Inside, the dining room was rarely used. It felt separate from the rest of the house, so it didn’t fit their vision of a sociable, welcoming space. They wanted a layout where the whole family could spend time together, whether cooking, eating, or relaxing.

The kitchen had been the heart of the home for years, but it was starting to show its age. This extension offers the perfect opportunity to refresh it and create a space that works beautifully for their needs.

The proposal includes an open-plan layout with a new rooflight above to bring in plenty of natural light. This feature will brighten the space throughout the day, adding a sense of openness and connection to the outdoors.

By blending the character of the Victorian terrace with thoughtful, modern design, the finished home has the oppurtunity to provide a practical, stylish, solution to mould the existing home to newer ways of living.
